Welcome to the PCA's website dedicated to the Fort Oglethorpe
Historic District. Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, is unique amoung its sister cities of Northwest Georgia. Its position
in the military history of the United States is well-documented. It is the northern gateway to the Chickamauga-Chattanooga
National Military Park and lies just seven miles south of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

JUNE 2008 June 8 6th U.S. Cavalry Association Memorial Service Museum Open
House
Held at the Post's flagpole on Historic Barnhardt Circle, Fort Oglethorpe, GA. The
Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon, followed by museum open house and refreshments. The public is invited.

JULY 2008 July 3 Patriotism at The
Post
Will present fireworks, patriotic music, flag display, children’s activities and museum

SEPTEMBER 2008 September
1 Labor Day at the Post
Traditional Monday event with arts & crafts, children’s activities
and food. The celebration is kicked off with a parade, military vehicle show, and of course ... award winning BBQ.
Parade at 11:00 a.m. Activities continue until 5:00 p.m. Please call the 6th Cavalry Museum at 706-861-2860 for

NOVEMBER
2008 November 8 Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon
This year's marathon, half-marathon, and junior marathon
begin and end at the Parade Field on Historic Barnhardt Circle, one block from the Chickamauga National Park's visitor's
center. Please contact Doug Roselle, Race Director at marathon@chattanoogatrackclub.org.
DECEMBER 2008 December 6 Fort Oglethorpe Christmas Parade and Santa Party
Parade at 6:00 p.m., with Santa arriving at the bandstand on the Parade Field to visit with the
children. Refreshments served, carols sung and $200 cash giveaway to one lucky adult. Please call the 6th Cavalry

Historic Barnhardt Circle Candlelight Homes Tour
Step back in time and visit historic homes around Barnhardt
Circle. Constructed circa 1904, these U.S. Army Officer's homes are full of history. Saturday, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
and Sunday, 2:00 p.m - 6:00 p.m. Please call the Post Community Organization at 706-866-6717 for more information.

| FORT OGLETHORPE CONTONMENT AREA, CIRCA 1918 |
The United States Army Post of Fort Ogethorpe, Georgia, was established
in 1902. The permanent buildings were substantially complete by 1904. The Sunday afternoon Polo matches were famous
throughout southeastern Tennessee and northwestern Georgia.
